Initial deployments in the wind power industry and on infrastructure projects

For Grúas Pirineos, the purchase of its first Liebherr mobile crane, the LTM 1650-8.1, marks a true milestone in the company’s short history. Thanks to this new acquisition, it can now offer a comprehensive range of services to its customers. The Liebherr LTM 1650-8.1 will be primarily used by Grúas Pirineos in the wind energy, industrial and construction sectors.

Ehingen (Donau) (Germany), 4 November2024 – Stronger together: Grúas Pirineos was founded in 2024 as a result of a merger between Grúas Losfablos and Grutrans Cabos, with the goal of offering customers powerful and innovative machinery for larger projects. The LTM 1650-8.1 is the first machine in the newly established company’s fleet. “We want to offer our customers comprehensive services and meet the demand for machines capable of handling challenging tasks,” explains Emilio Losfablos, Managing Director of Grúas Pirineos. With a maximum lifting capacity of 700 tonnes, the new addition can optimally meet the demand for greater reach and lifting power.

Losfablos explains the decision to purchase the LTM 1650-8.1: “We chose the best solution on the market when it comes to load bearing capacity, reach, ease of assembly, innovation, performance and safety.” The Liebherr LTM 1650-8.1 mobile crane impresses with its versatility and top-tier performance. It is available with two telescopic boom lengths, 54 metres and 80 metres, and is equipped with Y-telescopic boom guying system, which significantly increases the load bearing capacity and enhances lateral stability. In addition, the crane features a 91-metre luffing jib and a 62-metre lattice-type fixed jib.

Grúas Pirineos will use the Liebherr LTM 1650-8.1 for a wide variety of applications across the wind energy, industrial and construction sectors. To start with, the new crane will carry out lifting jobs in the wind power industry and the assembly of girders for infrastructure projects.

In an exciting development, Grúas Losfablos and Grutrans Cabos merged a year ago to form Grúas Pirineos. Both companies, individually and together, have chosen Liebherr as their trusted business partner. “Liebherr sets the benchmark in the industry, demonstrating this year after year through innovative products, services and after-sales management,” says Emilio Losfablos.
