This is a pioneering move to enhance worksite safety,Mammoet, a global leader in engineered heavy lifting and transport, has collaborated with Rietveld, a specialist in fleet management and vehicle safety systems, to develop an innovative mobile crane camera setup.
The joint project aims to protect drivers and road users when mobile cranes are moving and maneuvering which is something the industry has needed for quite some time. This system provides crane operators with a full 360-degree view of their crane while traveling and maneuvering.
Additionally, a series of sensors detect people and obstacles within an adjustable safety radius around the crane, triggering acoustic and visual warnings to alert the driver of potential hazards. This system seems to be alot like the conventional systems we have in the cars we drive today.
The final tier, called the'Halo,'draws a light boundary on the floor around the crane, giving those nearby a clear visual indication of the safe zone, particularly useful at sites where hearing protection is required. Can you say "Lighting the way"?
With this innovative mobile crane camera setup,MammoetandRietveldare setting a new standard for worksite safety, prioritizing the well-being of workers, pedestrians, and road users alike.
I think this is a huge advancement in the crane and rigging industry and can't wait to see it in action! There have been many times while in the field where I have experienced operators dealing with blind spots, spotters running back and forth behind the crane, not to mention the issues while interstate traveling across the US! We all know even with driving our cars and trucks the hazards we encounter; just imagine driving a 6+ axle crane across the country, avoiding the inevitable distractions of drivers on their phones, tired, or simply daydreaming.
