New LTM 1090-4.2 Added to Rolf Herbold GmbH’s Crane Fleet

Time-tested crane model impresses with VarioBase® and VarioBallast®

Compact 4-axle crane will replace a 5-axle model

Relationship based on expertise and trust has lasted for decades

Rolf Herbold GmbH has purchased a new addition to its fleet, an LTM 1090-4.2, to replace a 15-year-old 5-axle crane. This is the response by the Swabian mobile crane and working platform rental company to the increasingly narrow roads in new development areas because the new mobile crane is just 2.55 metres wide.

Ehingen (Donau), (Germany), 4 July 2024 – Rolf Herbold GmbH was particularly impressed by three features when it chose the new LTM 1090-4.2 – its narrow width, its 4-axle chassis and high lifting capacity. “The mobile crane’s width of just 2.55 metres is ideal for use in new development areas where roads and tracks are increasingly narrow,” says Managing Director Ute Fuchs. However, the all-rounder is also ideal for many other jobs, including erecting structural steelwork, installing prefabricated parts or moving transformer stations. The crane can be moved with many different axle loads when travelling on roads and construction sites.

The VarioBase® support base and the flexible VarioBallast® ballast radius were the major factors behind choosing the 90-tonne crane. These two functions deliver additional performance, greater safety and massive flexibility during the crane operation. “The compact dimensions of the 4-axle crane and its high lifting capacity with a gross weight of 48 tonnes are also a real boon,” adds Managing Director Markus Fuchs.

Loyal partnership for over 40 years

Together with the new LTM 1090-4.2, the Rolf Herbold GmbH fleet now comprises seven different crane models, from a 35-tonne unit to a 130-tonne mobile crane. “My parents, Rolf and Elisabeth Herbold, took over my grandfather’s haulage company in the 1970s and bought their first mobile crane very soon afterwards. Even all that time ago, my father decided to go for Liebherr. To this day, we value the good partnership and excellent working relationship. Above all, the customer service is always very helpful, and the engineers are both reliable and competent,” adds Ute Fuchs, who is now the third generation of the family to manage the company along with her husband, Markus Fuchs.

Rolf Herbold GmbH is replacing a 15-year-old 5-axle crane with the LTM 1090-4.2. Daniel Squarra and Kevin Bauer-Jakob, Joachim Sommer (Liebherr), Tanja and Markus Fuchs as well as Rainer Härtwig (from left to right) were on site in Ehingen to take delivery of the new crane in the fleet.

Both have been working in the family business, which was founded in 1945, for over 20 years. They helped to ensure that the mobile crane rental business has remained at a similar size and that the working platform division has expanded. “We are backed by a young, dynamic team who support our customers with their expertise, flexibility and reliability for moving heavy parts – staying true to our slogan: Rolf Herbold makes light work of heavy loads.”
